Using sentimental gold to make a Molten ring…

Transform pre loved into a new love!

We offer a remodelling service to refresh your jewellery box. Transform your old jewellery into one of our sparkling new molten rings and cherish it again!

Prices start from £430 and the process usually takes 6 -15 weeks.

Pick from eight designs in our carefully curated molten wedding ring collection. Of course, these make wonderful wedding rings but there’s no reason why these can’t be worn & enjoyed on any finger should you desire!

What metals can we remodel?

We offer this service to those wishing to remodel their own 9ct or 18ct gold (any colour), 22ct gold or platinum.

We can melt together multiple items if they are the same metal and fineness, however, we do not combine different carats or metals such as a 9ct item with a 18ct item. We can however add new metal to your own to create something heavier weight.

Not sure what metal you have?

If the item you want to remodel features a readable hallmark, finding out is simple! Your item will be stamped 375 if 9ct gold, 750 if 18ct gold, 916 if 22ct and 900/950 within a house shaped form if platinum (950 is also used to mark palladium). If you’re struggling to read the hallmark, try taking a photo of it in a good light and zooming in. Alternatively, simply drop into our boutique and we will happily review it for you!

Hallmarking

Items brought in for remodelling without a UK traditional hallmark (or with a hallmark too worn to read) will be tested prior to remodelling. Whist we will use our many years of experience and industry equipment to determine the metal & fineness, due to margins of error, we can not 100% guarantee the accuracy of these results.

Any remodelled gold or platinum will be sent to the London assay office for hallmarking/re-hallmarking after the design is complete. Although uncommon, in some cases remodelled metals may fail to meet the requirements when re-assayed. If an item fails to meet a threshold it will be stamped at the next fitness grade down (unless it fails to meet 9ct requirements and then it will be returned without a hallmark).

We recommend remodelling old jewellery when…

-It is sentimental. Why have grandma’s or grandad’s ring in a jewellery box when it can be worn & treasured again?!

- You like the material of your jewellery but not the design. Why not recycle the valuable materials you have into something more contemporary that you’ll enjoy wearing?!

-You have heavier weight or high carat/value precious metal. You can make impressive saving when remodelling 18ct or platinum verses buying new.

-Your pieces are worn, damaged or require notable re-sizing. Sadly, most jewellery has a lifespan. Rings can be worn too thin, claws can break, and rings may need to be resized beyond what their design will allow. In these cases why not remodel the salvageable materials, adding in new as necessary to add durability and life to the pieces?

In contrast, we don’t recommend remodelling your own 9ct gold into our lighter weight molten ring designs (specifically the Taw, Tavy, Yeo or Bray) unless the gold is sentimental. Due to the more labour intensive and costly nature of working with a customer’s own gold, remodelling lighter weights of 9ct gold may be more costly versus buying new. That said remodelling your own 9ct gold into an Otter, Sid, Wolf or Dart or remodelling 18ct or platinum into any of our eight designs will be more cost effective vs buying new (if we do not need to add in extra metal). Yet another reason to remodel!

If you have sufficient metal for the design so we do not need to add in more, the remodel will cost £430 regardless of which of our eight molten designs you choose.

If we need to add in extra metal we will quote on a case by case bases.

Due to the process of casting with a customer’s own gold these rings may cast with very fine air bubbles within the metal. We feel this only adds to the uniqueness & texture of your ring!

We can also adapt these bands to make them even more personal. Ask us about…

-Shaping: we can alter these bands to sit perfectly alongside most engagement rings

-Adding gemstones: we can add tiny diamonds, rubies or sapphires into these bands (subject to availability and size requirements) for extra sparkle!

-Alternative finishes: we can apply a matte to highly polished finish to any of our rings
