Spotlight on Solitaire Rings
Whether you’re thinking about remodelling, purchasing or commissioning a solitaire. This blog post aims to explore and inspire you with images and design options for Erin’s single stone rings.
These images are a combination of past one of a kind designs and commissions made from customer’s own materials. Have fun scrolling!
BEZEL SET CLASSICS
Erin’s contemporary twist on a classic design. The tapered tube shaped setting aka the ‘bezel’ boasts contemporary style and durability. It’s practical too as the setting allows access underneath the stone so cleaning and keeping your gem sparkling is easy!
OVAL: PORTRAIT VS LANDSCAPE
When working with oval cut gems Erin can offer two looks & set your special gem portrait or landscape. Which formation is your favourite?!
ALTERNATIVE CUTS
Classic solitaries may be simple and paired back in style but, by no means do they need to be boring! One way to add intrigue to the design is by opting for alternative cut. Round brilliant cuts aren’t the only brilliant choice! Check out our blog post ‘We love all shapes and sizes!’ for more gemstone cut inspiration.
CAULDRON SETTINGS
Relatively new to Erin’s design portfolio is this sleek ‘cauldron’, bowl-shaped setting. Sitting atop of the ring shank, this setting style cleverly allows for another band to sit flush against the solitaire, regardless of stone size. These designs looks super contemporary too and stack together wonderfully!
SNAZY SHOULDERS
The devils in the details. Adapting the shoulders of a ring can increase design drama, add structural support and enhance the gemstone centrepiece. Whilst strictly adding gems to the shoulders of a ring makes it a multi-stone design rather than a solitaire, the handful of multi-stone designs below all showcase shoulder diamonds serving as the supporting act. They enhance not distract from the beauty of the centre stone, so we thought it was worth sneaking them into this post!
BUBBLE
Say goodbye to perfectly symmetrical CAD designed ring mounts and say hello to Erin’s molten bubble mini artworks - hand fabricated and unique!
MIXED TONES
Have a design to withstand the test of time. Combining multiple tones of gold/platinum can allow your treasure to blend seamlessly with other items in your jewellery box and tie pieces together. Fashions and metal colour preferences can change but having a duo toned design gives more flexibility, plus looks super cool!
*9Y = 9ct yellow gold | 9W = 9ct white gold | 9R = 9ct red gold | 18Y = 18ct yellow gold | 18W = 18ct white gold | 18R = 18ct red gold | PLAT = Platinum
CLAW SET BEAUTIES
More of a claw setting kinda person? Maximise visibility & light around your stone with a more delicate style claw setting. From traditional four claw to unique molten bubble settings, Erin offers a range of setting styles to suit your individual style.
MINI DAZZLERS
When showcasing a small gemstone design choice is important to maximise impact. Tapering the shoulders of a ring in to a narrow point or opting for a very fine band can help emphasis the size of the stone. Flush setting tiny stones within molten balls or straight into the band is also a marvellous option.
MOLTEN AURAS
Wanna give a gem more presence? Framing it within a molten ‘aura’ can help catch the eye and give the illusion that the gemstone is larger than it is.
