The Bolder the Better: Colour Stories from My Studio

Colour has always been at the heart of Erin’s work. From the beginning of her career — crafting bold silver statement necklaces adorned with beads in every imaginable shade — her designs have been defined by a fearless love of colour. While her craft has evolved and she now works exclusively in gold and platinum, that vibrant spirit remains: woven into every piece as a flash of unexpected colour or a daring combination you didn’t know you needed.

This blog post is a celebration of colour. Forget safe, white diamonds — Erin’s portfolio showcases quirky combinations, bold choices, and gemstones that demand to be noticed. We’ve pulled our favourite shots from the archives, and we hope they spark a little rainbow inspiration of your own.

Let’s start with where Erin finds her inspiration. An avid gardener and forager, she finds that time spent outdoors never fails to spark something creative. More often than not, the colour palettes in her designs can be traced back to a specific plant, creature, or landscape encountered on her doorstep in Devon. Here are a few snaps from her camera roll that have each inspired unique designs…

BOLD TRILOGY RINGS

Some of Erin’s most striking designs come down to a single, confident decision: choosing three gemstones that shouldn’t work together — and proving that they do. The gems in these trilogy rings are chosen not just for their beauty but for the tension and harmony it creates alongside the others.

TANTALISING TRILLION & ALTERNATIVE CUT COMBOS

Erin loves to juxtapose alternative gemstone cuts and colours, creating bold, contemporary designs that confidently break from tradition.

BONKERS BONANZAS

Forget understated — these designs didn’t get the memo. Bursting with colour, stacked with stones, and absolutely refusing to be ignored, this is jewellery that walks into the room before you do! Loud, proud, and utterly joyful.

WILD FLOWER MEADOW PALETTES

Few things rival the effortless beauty of a wildflower meadow in full bloom — the riot of colour and the sense that nature has arranged everything perfectly by accident. Erin’s meadow-inspired pieces aim to capture this feeling, encapsulating a little of that seasonal magic into something you can carry with you all year round.

ROSEY RED GOLD CONTRASTS

Colour doesn’t only come from gemstones. Erin is well practised at using contrasting metals to build visual impact. Here, she pairs warm rosy 9ct red gold bands against cool white gold settings and finishes with coloured stones carefully selected to pull the design palette together.

PASTEL PALETTES

Not every statement needs to shout. Sometimes the most captivating designs are built on restraint — a whisper of blue, a blush of pink, a sprinkle of sage. Erin’s pastel pieces prove that soft shades can be every bit as considered and powerful as their bolder counterparts.

WARM, FIERY TONES

Capture that cosy, fireside feeling with these warm, fiery tones, from glowing garnets and rich sapphires to vibrant rubies and deep brown diamonds…

GORGEOUS GREENS

Of course being from Devon, Erin’s collection would not be complete without some gorgeous green designs! These capture the beauty of a Devonshire hedgerow beautifully.

PRETTY IN PINKS!

From the softest blush to stormy violet and vivid hot pink, the gemstones in our gem collections span the full range. Pop in during opening hours to explore our current collection of gems and and find the shade that speaks to you.

OCEAN HUES

Sapphires, diamonds, and every shade of blue the ocean has ever worn. From deep-sea navy to bright turquoise and everything in between — these designs are for those who feel most at home by the water.

DARE TO DREAM!

Erin has explored many colour combinations but there are still many more uniquely coloured designs just waiting to burst from her imagination!
